Vacancy: Student Assistant Communication

The Student Assistant in the Communication team at LLInC plays a vital role in supporting the administrative and creative functions of the department’s communication, external communication in particular. This position offers an opportunity for a student to gain practical, involved experience while contributing to LLInC’s smooth operation. 

Responsibilities:

Communication Assistance

  • Assisting in managing the department’s social media, including posting updates and engaging with followers.
  • Creating visually appealing graphics and promotional materials for departmental events and initiatives.

Technical Assistance (website)

  • Helping maintain our websites by updating content and testing functionality.
  • Working with content management systems.

Engagement (newsletters & blog)

  • Collaborating with other team members in drafting and editing newsletter content.
  • Enhancing the layout of newsletters.
  • Writing monthly event recap blog articles for our XR ERA immersive technology

Social Media Support

  • Monitoring social media channels and engaging with our LinkedIn
  • Helping track and report on social media analytics.

Event Support

  • Assisting the Events Manager with the logistics and promotion of departmental events, both online and offline.

Qualifications: 

  • Very strong communication skills, both written and verbal (in both Dutch and English is essential).
  • Very comfortable writing in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn).
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Creative thinker with fresh ideas for content and communication strategies.
  • An interest in education and innovation!
  • MUST be a student currently enrolled at Leiden University.
  • MUST be available to work for 2/3 days per week, if possible including Tuesdays.

Terms and conditions

Hiring takes place through the employment agency JobMotion. We offer this position for 6 months for 2 or 3 days per week with the option to extend the contract in case of mutual desire and need. The salary is based on your student status, BA, or Master in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. In this position, it is possible to work partly at home and partly in our offices in either The Hague or Leiden (hybrid working). Our ideal starting date would be at the beginning of September 2025.
