‘Teaching Professionals @ULA’ – A Unique Online Community for Educators of Professionals
Teaching professionals is unlike teaching any other group of learners. As educators at Universiteit Leiden, you know that working with professionals brings both extraordinary opportunities and distinctive challenges. Learners arrive with rich experience, strong opinions, and demanding schedules and expect teaching to be practical, relevant, and immediately applicable to their work. Meeting these expectations requires creativity, resilience, and a supportive network of peers who understand exactly what you face. This is where LLInC and ULA come in.
At ULA and LLInC, we are deeply committed to supporting our teachers in this important mission. With this in mind, beyond the workshops regularly scheduled by our didactical experts from LLInC, we are proud to introduce a new initiative: Teaching Professionals @ULA, our online learning community specifically dedicated to educators of professionals.
This community is more than just another platform—it is a space created to fit seamlessly into your busy calendar. We know your time is precious, so we have designed Teaching Professionals @ULA to provide flexible opportunities for connection, reflection, and growth. Whether you have five minutes between meetings or an hour to dive into a discussion, you will find conversations that matter, recourses that inspire, and colleagues who share your passion.
What makes this initiative truly special is its uniqueness within Leiden University. Teaching Professionals @ULA is one of the first communities dedicated exclusively to educators in this field, meaning that all discussions, recourses, and events are tailored to your specific educational context. You won’t need to explain why your learners are exchanging ideas, sharing strategies, and exploring solutions that directly address your challenges.

Inside the Teams environment, you will discover several channels organised around specific themes. These make it easy to find the conversations most relevant to you, whether you want to discuss assessment strategies, explore innovative teaching methods, or reflect on how to balance theory with practice. In addition, we’ll be using these channels to keep you up to date with all relevant upcoming events and workshops!
And here’s the best part: this community is completely free and open to anyone at Leiden University with an interest in teaching professionals. Whether you are an experienced educator or just beginning to teach professionals, you are more than welcome.
